Online Backgammon - In a League of your own
Playing online backgammon either for fun or for money is a good way to improve your skills or your ratings. Regular practice is the best way to get better, but sometimes just playing against one or to two players isn't challenging enough, this is when you should consider playing online league backgammon.
Playing in a league online isn't restrictive as far as distance is concerned players don't even have to come from the same territory and even if you can't find an existing league you can always create one of your own.
Here are some ideas how: online league backgammon operates:
Find a suitable site, something like Leaga, then register your name and ID, by registering your email, you will then receive an acknowledgement with your pin number, enter the pin in the online registration form to start the process.
Once you have enrolled, you are free to join a league of your choice. You can join one or more leagues it's up to you. Just repeat the procedure for each league you wish to join.
Playing in a league:
Choose Play Room on the Menu then click Go.
Click on the Play Tab; then on Matches on the League Menu.
To find out who the players are in your league click on Players Ranking.
Then look for a suitable player in the room.
Play the Match.
If you lose; Report the Match at the Matches page.
If you win; make sure the opponent has reported the win by checking League Stats under the Stats Tab.
If your opponent does not report the victory fill in a Win Claim at the Matches page.
Tournament Play
At the bottom of the each league's Main Page is a complete list of Tourneys up and coming in the next day or so: See Upcoming Tourneys.
Select an “Opened” Tournament in which you wish to compete, and click on its blue ID number. Tournaments are opened 45 minutes before start time.
You will then be taken to a Tournament Registration form with all the Tournament details; click Register.
You are then directed to the Tournament Page.
Go to the Play Room indicated on the Tournament page. Keeping the Tournament page open as well. When the Tournament Director (TD) announces that “Pairings are Up”, refresh the Tournament page.
At this point the identity of your opponent will be revealed in the Standings box on the Tournament page.
Click on the Pairings link on the Tournament page, to see the brackets for the entire Tournament.
If you lose the match, click on the Report Loss button in the “Standings” box.
There are a number of sites that offer backgammon online leagues; it is a good idea to check them out with Google before signing on.
